Nevertheless, the lab history began in 1992 with the creation of the UFPR graduate program in Geology and the Exploratory Geophysics and Environmental Geophysics subjects in correspondence with the respective program areas. In 1995, during Phase III of the Scientific and Technological Development Support Program (PADCT), the first magnetometer was acquired. In PADCT Phase IV, 1997, a call for geophysics projects was opened, in which five universities were selected including UFPR. One year later, the LPGA Project received investments of $200,000 for equipment purchase. In 1999, UFPR Rector Carlos Roberto Antunes dos Santos inaugurated the laboratory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>O Laborat\u00f3rio de Pesquisas em Geof\u00edsica Aplicada foi fundado em 29 de abril de 1999. No entanto, a hist\u00f3ria do laborat\u00f3rio iniciou em 1992 com a cria\u00e7\u00e3o do curso de p\u00f3s-gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Geologia da UFPR e das disciplinas de Geof\u00edsica Explorat\u00f3ria e Geof\u00edsica Ambiental, em correspond\u00eancia \u00e0s respectivas \u00e1reas de concentra\u00e7\u00e3o do programa. Em 1995, durante a vig\u00eancia da Fase III do Programa de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Cient\u00edfico e Tecnol\u00f3gico (PADCT), foi adquirido o primeiro magnet\u00f4metro. Na fase IV do PADCT, em 1997, foi aberta uma chamada para projetos de geof\u00edsica, na qual cinco universidades foram selecionadas, incluindo a UFPR.
